In Aguascalientes, the tourist will be surrounded by the several huge landscapes that are used as a setting for a relaxing tour. Ecotourism
At the Aguascalientes surroundings, there are wonderful landscapes, with an endemic flora and fauna that visitors will be able to observe at a very short distance.
Tours with family, couple or friends, or camping, horse riding, photo picture safari, or just a simple trek to fill your lungs with fresh clean air, all this embrace this activity, which also works to wake a certain sense for nature protection.
Some of the most advisable places are the Potrerillo Tunel, to appreciate birds, raccoons, foxes among others, ideal for a horse riding; The el Cerro de la Ardilla (Squirrel’s Hill) exposes animal species such as the white tail deer, puma, wild boar, wild cat, grey fox, eagle, hawk, quail and chameleon; the Laurel Sierra possesses a unique eco system in the state; an interesting sub tropical bush; el Sabinal where beautiful trees can be seen such as the oak, pirul tree, and tepozonas; and the ecological zone called El Chilarillo, which offer cabins for those ones who wish to rest and enjoy from the nature. Camping
For those who love camping, and enjoy sleeping in a tent under the stars, telling stories around a bonfire, there are two ideal places for this activity with excellent climate conditions, abundant vegetation, sierras and flat areas, as well as being well communicated to the capital city. The Alamitos dam and the Eco tourist common land El Ocote, both, near the states capital; they also offer water service, security, and more, in order to make your trip more comfortable and safe.
Mountain Biking
The Potrerillo Túnel and the Laurel Sierra, are two beautiful places where local bicycle riders and also riders from all over the world have fun appreciating the beautiful landscapes while creating new trails.
Rappel and Climbing
Near the state’s capital, there are three ideal sites to practice the challenging activities of climbing and rappel. At Manolito La Muela, the Picaho’s hill bottom or the Del Muerto’s Hill, there are several routes with walls approximately 20 meter tall; the Huijolotes canyon possesses a great number of walls; the Ecotourist common land called El Ocote has cliffs and rock formations that are almost vertical.
